At the end of the section “Interesting things about mushrooms” we want to tell you about the myths and legends associated with mushrooms.

There are many legends, mysteries and superstitions associated with mushrooms. People were surprised by their sudden appearance and attributed it to their divine origin.

In the 16th century, mushrooms were called “children of the gods” in the German herbalist.

In Chukotka, archaeologists have found images of fly agarics associated with shamanic rituals.

Vikings, according to the chronicles, ate fly agaric before the battle, got very excited and fearlessly rushed into battle.

The ancient Romans used poisonous mushrooms as a weapon in their struggle for power.

Mysterious “witch rings” caused many myths, it was believed that witches gather there or enchanted treasures are stored. In Holland, it was believed that devils churn butter in these circles, and it was impossible to graze cows there.
